A memorable visit to IGEM: celebrating heritage and exploring opportunities for Africa.

On 29 October 2026, I had the pleasure of visiting the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers at IGEM House, 26 & 28 High Street, Kegworth, Derbyshire, DE74 2DA, United Kingdom.

My sincere appreciation to Ms Rachael Cook and her colleagues for their warm welcome and engaging discussions on strengthening collaboration across Africa, particularly Nigeria, where IGEM has an established membership community.

We explored opportunities to support professional development, deepen member engagement and strengthen connections across the global gas industry. We also discussed a potential professional partnership between IGEM and the AIAIAC Africa Conference, including opportunities for members to present papers on Gas Engineering and Management from June 2027.

The headquarters tour was inspiring, especially the library and historical archives. Exploring the records, books and contributions of past presidents offered a remarkable connection to an institution whose history dates back to 1863.

Thank you for allowing me to photograph these treasured records of engineering achievement and for making the visit so rewarding.

I look forward to further visits and continued discussions that translate shared ambitions into meaningful opportunities for members in Africa and worldwide.
