01 / THE IDEA

Daily wisdom, hidden in plain sight.

ASOTS is a community built around original street photographs, short videos, and the life lessons they inspire.

A kind gesture. Something growing through a crack in the pavement. A quiet pause on a busy road. Members capture their own moments and add reflections on awareness, growth, gratitude, and everyday life.

The public feed contains member uploads. Daily Lens provides editorial prompts to encourage observation; those prompts are not member photographs or evidence of activity. The community does not need a perfect image or a spectacular story. It needs your own perspective, shared with care.

Original moments, respectful sharing.

Upload photos or videos you captured yourself and have permission to publish. Do not submit stock images, copied posts, generated imagery, sexual content, scams, or unsolicited promotions. Ask permission before featuring identifiable people where needed. Never capture while driving.

02 / GET STARTED

Your first five minutes.

  1. Look around.

Open the Street feed or Daily Lens. You can browse public observations before signing in. Empty sections simply mean no matching member posts are available yet.

  2. Join with your email.

Choose Join the community or Sign in, enter the requested name and email, and use the newest six-digit code sent to that inbox. Enter the code only on ASOTS. Do not share it in posts, chat, or support messages.

Google sign-in is optional and currently in testing mode, so access may be limited to allowed test accounts. It still requires the ASOTS email-code step. LinkedIn sign-in is not configured. Email-code sign-in is the available alternative.

  3. Make your profile yours.

Add an optional profile photo during registration, or choose your avatar after signing in and open Profile photo. Use Edit profile to change your public name and short biography.

  4. Share something you noticed.

Select Share a moment on desktop or the + button on mobile. Choose your original media, add a reflection and theme, optionally add a broad place, confirm permission, then publish. Passing the automated safety checks publishes the observation without a moderator approval request.

  5. Start with one thoughtful connection.

Use Discover people, open a profile, and choose Follow. Appreciate a moment or add a reflection. Private messaging becomes available when you follow each other and both allow messages.

04 / ADD YOUR PERSPECTIVE

One moment. Your own words.

  1. Open the composer. Choose Share a moment, +, or Answer with your moment on Daily Lens.
  2. Choose your own media. Select an existing original photo or video. Open my camera uses capture where your device and browser support it; it cannot certify when or where a file was taken.
  3. Write the reflection. Explain what you noticed and what it taught you, in up to 2,000 characters. A useful starting point is “I noticed… It reminded me…”
  4. Choose a theme and optional place. Select Awareness, Growth, Gratitude, or Everyday life. A city or area and country can help people discover different perspectives. Leave out exact addresses and sensitive locations.
  5. Confirm your rights. Confirm you captured the media and can share it. Printing permission is a separate, optional choice for photos.
  6. Publish and check the result. Keep the form open while checks run. If the media passes, it publishes. If a check fails or the service is unavailable, it does not publish; follow the explanation and try again when appropriate.
Current upload limits
MediaAccepted formatsLimit
Observation photoJPEG, PNG, WebP12 MB
Observation videoMP4, WebM25 MB and 60 seconds
Profile photoJPEG, PNG, WebP8 MB

Photos are re-encoded, compressed, and stripped of embedded metadata. This is not a camera RAW archive. Video metadata is not stripped. Check the image, video, sound, and background for private information before submitting, and keep your own original files.

After publication

Appreciate acknowledges a moment. Reflect opens comments. Save adds it to your private collection. Share opens your device’s share options or copies its public link. The observation’s ··· options let you remove your own post, disable its printing permission where applicable, or report someone else’s post.

Removing an observation hides it from the public feed; it is not an immediate erasure of every stored copy. See the privacy notice for retention and removal.

05 / LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER

Four ways to make the experience yours.

Daily Lens

A shared prompt makes it easier to begin. Choose Answer with your moment to attach today’s Lens date to your post; a regular upload is not automatically a Lens response.

The prompt changes at midnight UTC. If the day changes while you are preparing a response, reopen the current prompt if asked. There is no required daily streak.

Two Streets

Find two different places with something in common. Choose a theme, open either observation, and add your reflection about what connects them.

Pairs use eligible photos from different members and declared places among the latest 200 eligible photos. A waiting message is shown when there is no suitable pair.

My Street Passport

See your moments, days, places, themes, a 28-day calendar, and gentle milestones. Only you can open this summary; the published observations it describes remain public.

Download my journal saves up to your latest 1,000 published reflections as a text file, with dates and places. It does not include photo or video files.

Quiet View

Switch on Quiet View in the feed or Daily Lens to hide popularity counts on observation cards. You can still appreciate, reflect, save, and share.

The preference stays in this browser. It does not remove activity records, change someone else’s view, or hide all counts across the website.

06 / FROM OBSERVATION TO CONVERSATION

Connect with consent.

Visit Discover people, search for a name, and open a profile. Choose Follow to add their observations to Following. When you follow each other, you become mutual connections. Both people must also allow messages and neither may have blocked the other.

Live private chat

Choose Message on an eligible profile, or open Messages and select a conversation. Send text of up to 2,000 characters. Messages update automatically; the interface can show typing and read status. On a keyboard, Enter sends and Shift + Enter adds a line.

If a live connection drops, the website can fall back to refreshing messages. If messaging becomes unavailable, check your mutual-follow relationship and Privacy settings. Chats are access-controlled and protected in transit, but not end-to-end encrypted.

Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp & Signal

  1. Open an eligible private conversation and choose Meet / Teams.
  2. Create the meeting or contact invitation with your preferred provider. The Google Meet and Microsoft Teams shortcuts open that provider.
  3. Choose the service, paste its invitation link, add a title and optional local date/time, then select Send private invitation.
  4. Your connection can Accept or Decline. The sender can cancel the invitation in ASOTS. Use the join button to open the provider’s site or app.
The invitation lives here; the call uses its provider.

ASOTS does not embed, record, or screen these external calls. The provider’s sign-in requirements and privacy terms apply. Cancelling the invitation in ASOTS does not necessarily cancel the underlying provider meeting; manage that with the provider too. Share links only with their intended recipient.

07 / YOUR ACCOUNT

A profile with room for your perspective.

Select your avatar to open your profile. Edit profile changes your display name and biography. Profile photo lets you choose, screen, save, or remove a circular portrait. The current photo stays in place until a replacement passes its check.

Your display name, handle, biography, profile photo, and published observations are public. Your sign-in email is not displayed on your public profile. Keep personal contact details out of public text.

Account controls

  • Privacy settings → Allow messages from mutual connections: turn off to stop new private messages and meeting invitations.
  • Privacy settings → Download my records: download your available account text and conversations. Keep this file private; it is different from the reflection-only Passport journal.
  • Privacy settings → Sign out other sessions: revoke other ASOTS sessions when you no longer trust or use another device.
  • Blocked members: review and unblock people from your profile or Privacy settings.
  • Your profile → Sign out: end your current signed-in session.

For a correction or account-deletion request, contact support@asseenonthestreet.com from your sign-in address. Requests are handled manually and ownership may need to be verified. Never send a password, sign-in code, or payment-card details.

08 / COMMUNITY CARE

Know what is shared. Know your controls.

Public

Published photos, videos and reflections; public profile information; optional places you add. Public media can be viewed and copied, even when you do not allow printing.

Restricted access

Sign-in details, saved observations, your Passport summary, account records, print requests and private conversations. Restricting access does not make the service end-to-end encrypted.

Automatic checks before publication

Submitted media and public text are checked with Sightengine for sexual content, unsafe links, and common scam or spam signals. Uploads that pass publish without moderator approval. Failed or unavailable checks do not publish the upload.

No automated filter can guarantee detection of every harmful image, scam, or misleading statement. Video screening samples frames and does not inspect every moment or its audio. External calls are not screened. Text screening currently covers English, French, Spanish and Portuguese; an Arabic interface does not mean Arabic text screening is available. Private chats are not sent to Sightengine and use local solicitation checks.

Report a concern

  • Observation: open its ··· options and choose Report observation.
  • Comment: open the reflections and use its report action where available.
  • Member: open their profile and choose Report or Block.
  • Private message: select Report message beneath an incoming message.

Describe the concern without repeating sensitive personal details. Reports go to a private community-care queue and are not shared with the reported member. A report does not guarantee an immediate response. Blocking and switching off messages give you additional control while a concern is reviewed.

09 / KEEP A MOMENT CLOSE

Print with permission.

You can print your own photograph or one whose creator has enabled printing. Find the observation and choose Print. The website checks permission and estimates a suitable physical size at 300 DPI. Larger printing may appear softer; ASOTS does not promise artificial resolution improvements.

Choose Open photo print view, then use the browser’s print dialog to choose paper, orientation, and size. This sends the image to your selected printing destination; it does not place a merchandise order.

Merchandise requests

The same panel lets you save interest in a photo print, T-shirt, hoodie, or mug, with quantity, size or colour preference, country, and notes. Track requests in My print requests.

A request is not a paid order.

Live checkout, manufacturing, and creator payouts are not enabled. No payment is taken and no manufacturing order is placed by saving a request. Prices, delivery and creator terms must be confirmed before a future purchase.

Creators can disable printing through their observation’s options. Only enable it when you hold the necessary rights to the full photograph, including identifiable people, artwork, and logos where applicable. Disabling permission cannot retrieve copies already printed or downloaded.

10 / A WIDER WORLD

30 interface languages. Your original voice.

Use the language selector near the top of the community:

  • English
  • Français
  • Español
  • Português
  • العربية
  • Hausa
  • Yorùbá
  • Igbo
  • Naijá
  • Kiswahili

  • اردو
  • 简体中文
  • 繁體中文
  • 日本語
  • 한국어
  • Bahasa Indonesia
  • Bahasa Melayu
  • Tiếng Việt
  • ไทย
  • Filipino

Arabic and Urdu use a right-to-left interface. Open Language options in the sidebar or the phone’s More menu to browse native language names by region. New translations are in beta; use Share beta feedback to suggest corrections. Public-text screening and AI suggestion languages have separate availability. Your preference is saved in this browser. Member posts remain in their original language, and changing the interface does not translate another person’s message. This guide, some policies, errors and staff details remain in English.

Use your browser’s zoom or text-size controls as needed. This guide supports keyboard navigation, a skip link, section links, and printing with your browser. On the main website, select View full photograph to inspect an image beyond its circular feed presentation. The site adapts to small screens; it does not require a separate native application.

11 / HELP SHAPE THE COMMUNITY

An invitation to notice together.

We are preparing a small, personally invited beta group of approximately 30–50 willing participants across different places. The aim is useful feedback and meaningful connections. Participation is voluntary; no daily posting streak is required.

“Private beta” describes the invitation group, not private posting. The website is publicly reachable. Published observations and profiles remain public. Do not upload anything you expect to be visible only to the beta group.

Ready-to-share invitation

Copy the text below and share personally with people who welcome your invitation. This page does not send messages or import contacts.

What did the street teach you today?

I’m inviting a small group to try As Seen on the Street, a new community for everyday wisdom captured in our own photos and short videos.

During the next two weeks, share a few original moments from your street or neighbourhood, tell us what they taught you, and leave a thoughtful reflection on someone else’s observation. Try Daily Lens, explore another place, and connect with someone whose perspective interests you.

This is an early beta, so your honest feedback matters. Tell us what feels clear, what is confusing, and what would make you return. Joining is voluntary. Published posts and profiles are public; use broad locations and share only media you have permission to publish.

Start at www.asseenonthestreet.com and choose Join the community. Use email-code sign-in if Google testing access is unavailable.

Feedback: Share private beta feedback or support@asseenonthestreet.com

One observation. One reflection. One lesson at a time.
#AsSeenOnTheStreet #DailyWisdom #StreetMeditations

A useful two-week trial

  1. First visit: create a profile, try a Daily Lens response, and tell us if any step is unclear.
  2. During the first week: share a few original moments when you wish, explore a different place, and add thoughtful reflections. Ask a willing mutual connection to try chat and an optional meeting invitation.
  3. During the second week: return when you choose, revisit Saved observations, try Quiet View, and download your Passport journal.
  4. At the end: use Share beta feedback to tell the administrator what you used, what failed, and whether you would return. Include your device/browser and interface language if relevant; never include sign-in codes or other people’s private messages.

Real community evidence comes from willing people using the service over time. An invitation or test account alone is not evidence of an active community. Feedback will guide improvements; this page does not claim that a larger beta cohort has already participated.

12 / WHEN SOMETHING IS UNCLEAR

A few helpful answers.

I cannot find a page on my phone.

Open More in the bottom navigation. It contains the wider page menu and search. Some account pages appear only when you are signed in. You can also use the direct page links in this guide.

My sign-in code has not arrived.

Check the address you entered and your spam or junk folder. Use the newest ASOTS email-code message and enter its six digits in the website’s dialog. Request a fresh code if the previous one has expired. If the problem continues, contact support without including any code.

Google sign-in says I cannot access the app.

Google sign-in is still in testing mode and may be limited to approved test accounts. Return to ASOTS and use the ordinary email-code sign-in. LinkedIn sign-in is not currently configured.

My upload will not publish.

Check the file format and size, and ensure videos are no longer than 60 seconds. Read the error in the upload form. A failed or unavailable safety check prevents publication. Do not keep resubmitting prohibited content; if you believe a safe original was rejected, describe the problem to support.

My phone photo is not one of the accepted formats.

Export or save a copy as JPEG, PNG, or WebP using your device’s photo tools, keeping the original safe. For video, use an MP4 or WebM copy within the size and duration limits. Check the result before uploading.

Why is Two Streets empty?

A pair needs two eligible photos from different members and different declared places on the same theme. Try another theme or return after more members have posted. ASOTS does not fill the page with invented member photos.

Why can I not message someone?

You must follow each other, both allow messages, and neither member may have blocked the other. Check Privacy settings. A member may choose not to connect or receive messages; respect that choice.

Does accepting a meeting join the call?

No. Accepting updates the invitation status in the conversation. Use the provider’s join button when you want to open the meeting. The call happens on that provider’s site or app, not inside ASOTS.

Can I download all my original photos and videos?

The Passport journal is a text export, and the account-records download provides account text and conversations. Neither is an original-media archive. Keep your own original photos and videos outside ASOTS. For access requests beyond the available downloads, contact support.

Will saving a print request charge me?

No. The current merchandise form saves a request only. Live checkout, manufacturing and creator payouts are not enabled. Browser photo printing is separate and uses your own selected print destination.

STILL NEED A HAND?

We’re listening.

Describe the page, what you expected, and what happened. Include your device, browser and language if helpful. Leave out passwords, codes and sensitive personal information.

Email support

Reliable uploads and community care

After your upload is received, open My submissions to follow its checks. You can leave the page while the server works. Temporary failures retry automatically; nothing appears in the public feed before it passes.

Public text currently supports English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Arabic public text is blocked until supported screening is connected. The Arabic interface is available.

Owners can open Team access to grant limited moderation access to existing members. Moderators handle reports; provider settings, private feedback and recovery keys remain owner-only. Website health shows queue, storage, screening and backup checks. Hosting-based alerts go to the support inbox; independent monitoring still needs setup.

Privacy centre and launch readiness

Use Privacy centre to verify your session, download account records in parts, or submit and track a privacy request. Downloads and sensitive administrator changes require email verification within the last 15 minutes.

Owners can use Launch readiness to review privacy requests and record real evidence for security, capacity, devices, support, retention and Google production sign-in. These notes do not certify that the site is ready for a large launch.

The interface has 30 languages. Public-text screening supports 18; choose a supported content language in the posting form. Arabic/Urdu and other unsupported writing systems remain unavailable for public text.

Everyday navigation and reading preferences

The main menu prioritises Street feed, Share a moment, Discover people, Messages and Your profile. Expand Daily Lens for prompts and places, Your account for saved content and settings, and Administration for owner tools. On mobile, use More.

Open Display & data to choose larger text, reduced motion or low-data mode. Low-data mode delays feed photos and videos until you choose Load; avatars and other pages still use data. Preferences stay in this browser.

Encrypted backups now divide database snapshots into 8 MB parts, with a 2 GB database ceiling and available-disk checks. Existing snapshots remain recoverable. These limits do not establish hosting traffic capacity.
